How does a Bangladeshi student get to Malaysia?

Through EMGS — Education Malaysia Global Services, the government body that processes every international student pass application. You get an offer from a Malaysian institution, the institution submits your Student Pass application through EMGS, EMGS runs the checks and issues the Visa Approval Letter, and you then get the visa and enter — with arrival handled through the International Student Arrival Centre. Malaysia also offers a Graduate Pass giving an additional 12 months to work without an employer sponsor, which is unusually generous for the region. Because EMGS is a single official channel with published requirements, Malaysia is one of the harder destinations for an agent to defraud you on — insist that everything goes through EMGS.

Public vs private — pick by outcome, not by price

  • Public universities (UM, UPM, UKM, USM, UTM, UMPSA, UTeM) are cheaper and research-strong; admission cycles are less flexible and intakes fewer.
